Lineburger Wooden Snipe #20237 ['Piá'] 'Squonk'
One of the first photos of Lineburger Wooden Snipe's that keep on sailing, came to us through Guido Potenza - sailor from Yacht Club Rosario, Argentina - who owned and restored LWS #20237 'Squonk'.
This Snipe was manufactured in the year 1973 for the consortium of Flotilla 555, from Florianópolis SC. Its first owner was Lauro Battistotti, from the traditional Yacht Club of Santa Catarina. His son, Lauro Battistotti Filho, was his master in the regulations of the Snipe, originally named "Piá" - brazilian expression derived from Tupi-Guarani that means 'heart', an affectionate way for indigenous people to call their sons and daughters "my heart".
Thank you for sharing, Good Winds!
